Monitors, analyzes, and interprets bacteriology reports and infection statistics, recommends appropriate control measures to prevent dissemination of resistant microorganisms and pathogens, The Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse / RN consults with physicians, managers, and staff for the management of infectious and/or immuno-suppressed patients, The Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse / RN participates in Infection Control Committees, The Infection Control / Employee Health Nurse / RN collaborates with local and state health departments in the prevention, control, and appropriate reporting of communicable diseases, Data analysis and interpretation, summary reporting, Development of preventive and control measures, Develops infection control program policies and procedures that eliminate the risk of infection to consumers, facility personnel and visitors through surveillance and implementation of appropriate control measures, Collaborates with Staff Development & Training to develop and conduct in-service education programs for all personnel to improve the knowledge and practice of infection control and epidemiology, Acts as the infection control liaison between the Health and Safety committee and all departments and medical services facility administration, day treatment programs and residential programs, Makes periodic rounds in day treatment programs and residential programs for the purpose of case findings and prevention surveillance, Excellent computer, communication, analytical and Information Systems skills are required, By providing the organization with a baseline using proven data bases and formulas for benchmarking, Two years of experience working as a staff registered nurse required, Infection Control experience within long-term care, Experience with wound care or staff education, Bending and lifting (10-20 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, Assists medical personnel in identifying carriers and tracing possible sources of infection and preventing transmission of disease, Conducts monthly pressure ulcer tracking to assist in improving care of individuals who have pressure ulcers, Educates staff regarding proper charting requirements, appropriateness of services rendered, quality improvement process, patient safety and HIPAA, Assists in making nursing policies and procedures, By ensuring the completion of audits regarding the implementation of and compliance with selected policies, Shares knowledge and skills with others and brings creativity and innovation to practice, Infection Control, hospital epidemiology or related experience required, At least five years experience as a registered nurse, Ensuring the adherence to established infection control standards and policies, By attending educational workshops: reviewing professional publications: and participating in professional organizations, Submits Infection Control meeting minutes as indicated in Policy and Procedure, Assists in the development and implementation of infection prevention and control measures, Works with the Health and Safety Committee by participating in its meetings, preparing nursing reports and by providing assistance and counseling regarding Occupational Injury and Exposures, Oversees the annual Employee Influenza Vaccine clinics, Serves as a liaison to the local Departments of Health, area hospitals and Infection Control Committees, Tracks line reports for infection types, frequency, trends and virulence; communicates Plans of Nursing Service whenever there is an outbreak specific to the individual involved, Conducts pre-survey audits to ensure that individuals’ medical records meet requirements for completeness, accuracy and quality of documentation, Prepares monthly audit reports of QA analysis to see the trends of deficiencies for the unit Nurse Administrator and Nursing Program Coordinator with corrective plan of action for improvement, Considers both clinical outcomes and financial implications when making recommendations for changes in practice, Reviews Statement of Deficiencies and has input in Plan of Corrective Actions, Completes environmental rounds quarterly.
